Let’s embark on an adventure to the top of Mount Ararat, the highest volcano in Türkiye (5137m). Mount Ararat or Ağrı Dağı in Turkish, literally translated as “Mountain of Pain”, was believed to be the final resting place of Noah’s Ark and located at the borders of Türkiye, Iran, and Armenia. Mount Ararat consists of two major volcanic cones, Greater Ararat and Little Ararat where you can explore the stunning landscape and immense yourself in the wild nature.

Let’s embark on an adventure to the top of Mount Ararat, the highest volcano in Türkiye (5137m). Mount Ararat or Ağrı Dağı in Turkish, literally translated as “Mountain of Pain”, was believed to be the final resting place of Noah’s Ark and located at the borders of Türkiye, Iran, and Armenia. Mount Ararat consists of two major volcanic cones, Greater Ararat and Little Ararat where you can explore the stunning landscape and immense yourself in the wild nature.
Our guide will meet you at the domestic airport (Van/Ağri/Iğdir, depending on your time of arrival) and transfer to Doğubayazıt (1-2hrs). If you arrive in Van airport, we can make a short sightseeing at Muradiye waterfall which was named after the Ottoman IV. Check in at our hotel in Doğubayazıt, get some refreshment and rest. Our guide will give an overall program briefing and do a final equipment checkup after our welcome dinner at a local restaurant.
Overnight in Hotel (
Doğubayazıt)After breakfast, a minibus will transfer you to Cevirme Village (2200m), this is where you start hiking to Camp 1 (3200m) on Mount Ararat. All baggages will be transferred to Camp 1 by mules. Food, drinks and refreshment will be ready for us at Camp 1. After setting up the tents and mattresses together, you have free time on the afternoon to rest and enjoy the nature. After dinner, our guide will give a short briefing for tomorrow. 10PM lights out.
Overnight in Tent (
Ararat Camp1)After breakfast, we will take a lunch box and start the acclimatization hike to higher altitude around 4000m. This hike will help our bodies adapt to the altitude properly. We will stay at this altitude for 45-60 minutes. Explore and take pictures of the wild flowers and the volcanic landscape. We will descend to to Camp 1 and rest, free time on the afternoon. After dinner, our guide will give a short briefing for tomorrow. 10PM lights out.
Overnight in Tent (
Ararat Camp1)Early morning, we pack our tents and belongings ready for the mules to transfer to Camp 2. We will have breakfast and take a lunch box before start our ascend to Camp 2 (4200m). The route to Camp 2 will be even more rocky terrains. We will have an early dinner around 5 PM, our guide will check your equipments once again for the summit push (e.g. crampons, shoes, trekking poles, headlamps).
Overnight in Tent (
Ararat Camp2)Wake up around 1AM and have early breakfast around 2AM, we take a lunch box and fill our thermos with hot tea and enough water for the summit push. The ascend will take around for 5-6 hrs through the zigzag rocky terrain. We will reach the crampon point at around 200m below the summit and continue ascending through the snow and glaciers to the summit of Mount Ararat (5137m). A stunning view beyond borders of Turkey, Iran, and Armenia. Take photos, refill our energy, and start descending to Camp 2. We will get some refreshments from Camp 2, pack our tents and belongings and then continue to descend to Camp 1 where we will have our celebratory dinner! 10PM lights out

Ararat Camp1)After breakfast, we together pack our tents and belongings and start descending to Cevirme village (2-3 hrs) where the vehicle will be waiting for us to transfer to Doğubayazıt. Check in and refresh ourselves at the hotel. Have lunch in the city center and then start short sightseeing to the 17th century Ishak Pasha Palace and visit the footprint of Noah’s Ark site. We will have a celebratory dinner at a local restaurant.

Doğubayazıt)After breakfast, according to the time of departure, our vehicle will transfer you to the Domestic airport (Van/Ağri/Iğdir). Time to say goodbye to our guide and bring wonderful memories home.
